    Description

Real photograph postcard birds eye view of buildings at the Mount Hermon School for Boys in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts, postmarked Mount Hermon, Mass. (year illegible, maybe 1912). The view, entitled Cottage Row and Crossley Hall, Mt. Hermon, Mass., shows the roofs of a row of houses in the foreground with another house on campus grounds at right and a large brick building at left. This is the Mount Hermon School for Boys, established as a religious school in 1881 by the evangelist Dwight L. Moody (later known as the Northfield School). The card was sent by a young man named Browning to a friend back in his native town of Griswold, Connecticut. The postcard is in good condition with light wear and soiling. The white spot on the front near center is a bit of paper from another postcard and likely can be removed with a damp towel and some care. The photograph exhibits good or better tonal range (just a tad dark) and shows good or better detail. A nice Northfield School and Mount Hermon MA view!
