  • Condition: This offering is for a beautiful 19th century ropework or macrame ladies shoe. The shoe was made entirely of string or cording with a varnished surface on the exterior. The shoe was made likely made by a sailor on a long whaling voyage as a gift for a loved one back home. For the 19th century whaler knot tying played a large role in their daily routine. As such many sailors became quite adept at fashioning heavy string or cord into all manner of fanciful objects and this ladies shoe is one of the finest quality. The surface is outstanding with an untouched patina,,,and dust. The shoe measures app. 7" long, 3" high and 2.75" in width. The condition is very nice with minor wear to the surface but no breaks, cracks or repairs.
