Provenance
:
My Dad was a Computer Science professor at Harford Community College, about 10 miles from Aberdeen Proving Grounds (where ENIAC was also housed), and sometime in the ‘70’s, APG donated parts to various institutions, and local colleges were an obvious choice. The significance of the
early Librascope LGP-30
computer was only appreciated by a few super-nerds at the time, and by the early 2000’s, Harford wanted to clear storage space in the computer lab – and throw it away.
As a former Air Force radar tech back in the ‘60’s, my Dad nostalgically grabbed this small board from what he described as “refrigerator sized racks filled with hundreds of tubes” and had it on his desk until he retired around 2010. Unfortunately, the rest of it was junked, but during that clean-out is when he also found the sealed copies of Windows 1.0 and Windows 98. The novelty “Y2K Proof” pencil was tucked away in the same storage box as the other items in this lot. Thanks for looking!
