    Description

    Hemmi No. 258. Prototype Versalog.
    Celluloid on bamboo.
    Duplex.
    23 Scales.
    Made by Hemmi for Post.
Rule bears name and logo of both Hemmi and Post.
Scarce. Only about 40 examples known.
Rule has date code BF (June, 1951).
This is one of the first Versalogs made and is one of few that bears the Hemmi No. 258 marking.
We know of about 40 of these rules.  They apparently escaped the Hemmi factory and found their way into the marketplace. Post apparently soon told Hemmi to omit their 258 model number from the Versalog.
For more information about the Versalog and its changes over the years, see
the Post Slide Rule Archive on Walter Shawlee's great website

    .
Rule is in excellent condition. Has 2 decimal point formulas lightly added at right end of slide.
Rule's metal parts are clean and bright.
Slide and cursor move smoothly and easily.
Original case is good and has original Hemmi end label "No. 258".
Payment is due via PayPal within 3 days from end of auction.
