Deer
Deer are perhaps the most destructive nocturnal animal in modern times, they are also the most intelligent and difficult to stop. They act differently than a predator type animal and so we need to approach the placement of the lights differently. You must use four ASPECTEK Solar units placed on a single post or pole (cluster mount) 4’ high with each light facing a different direction (North, South, East, West).
Owls and Hawks
Four lights mounted 10-14 feet in the air on a single post with each light facing a different direction (cluster mount). For use with purple martin houses mount the lights directly to the house itself or one foot above the house on the same post or put the lights on a separate post and place the post nearby the house. For use with guineas you may need to place the lights higher than 14 feet; put the lights at the same level as guineas are roosting.
Large Ground Predators
Predators like coyote, bobcat, wild boar, mountain lion and bear; put the lights approximately 100-200 feet apart, around all four sides (perimeter mount) and eye level to the predator approximately 20-30 inches off the ground. Use cluster mount for large, open acreage.
Small Predators
Predators like fox, raccoon, opossum and skunk; put the lights approximately 25-50 feet apart, around all four sides (perimeter mount) and eye level to the predator approximately 10-15 inches off the ground.
CLUSTER MOUNT
Secure four lights on each side of a post. A 2x 2-in (5x5-cm) or 1x 2-in (2.5x5-cm) stake would work well. You will want to drive the stake about 12-inches (30.5 cm) into the ground. Ensure that your stake is long enough to mount the lights at eye level to the animal.
PERIMETER MOUNT
Secure lights on all sides of the area you want to protect
To mount the devices to a wooden post or stake, use finishing nails, wood screws or Velcro strips. To mount it to a wire mesh pen or fence, use plastic zip ties or a light-weight stovepipe, galvanized wire to attach the light. Make sure the light lies flat against the fence and is not pointing up or down. The animal can be stopped from 500 yards (457 metres) or more away.To prevent the animal from entering the property, the Predator Eye doesn't operate by motion sensor. It flashes continuously from dawn to dusk. The Predator Eye can also be placed on a vehicle dashboard or on the side of the house to warn trespassers away
CHARGING
The battery can be recharged by the sun. Pull out the transparent insulating plastic at the bottom of machine and mount. Install in a place that receives direct sunlight during the day. The unit will be ready to flash the first night it is installed. The light will blink from dusk to dawn.
